F/L Harry Hardy (DFC)
Harry Hardy was born in Virden, Manitoba on May 30, 1922. He joined the RCAF in 1941.
Posted overseas in 1944, his first “ops” was to support the attack on Falais, or better known as the Falais Gap. This was to try to encircle the German 7th Army and Fifth Panzer Army. He tells us of the times his Typhoon “Pulverizer” was hit by anti aircraft and small arms fire,forced landings, losing friends as well as being shot down and having to bail out near enemy territory.
His last mission was on March 24th, 1945 during Operation Varsity, or the crossing of the Rhine River.
Harry retired to Burnaby, British Columbia.
